Formerly, Fallen Daughter of the Duke 7

Chapter 7: The Destination is

A while later, after crying her eyes out, Claire told Viik and the others about herself.
About how she had lived as a noblewoman, about how she couldn’t go back because of certain family circumstances, and about the fact that the lack of her ability was the root of the problem.

After listening to her story, Viik carefully choose his words,
“I’m know this kind of stories. Human beings are weak and selfish,
“Do you have any plan?”

Claire, who had calmed down and regained her composure, answered,
“Yeah. I’m thinking of heading to a monastery due north. It’s not much, but I can still use some magic.”

“North, huh…”
Muttered Keith thoughtfully.

Doni, whose expression no longer looked friendly, followed,
“We just got back from the North, but actually, the weather last fall was so bad I don’t really think it’s safe there.”

“Is there no one whom you can ask to go with?”
Louie also looked at Claire worriedly.

[It seems like his fiancé, Claire, disappeared from the academy and headed to a monastery in the north of Eias Barrier, who knows]
Those words suddenly echoed in her mind.

((……? I wonder what that means.))

When Claire was still hanging by those words that echoed in her mind, Viik, who had been tapping his finger on the table for a while, suddenly stopped his movements.
Then with a determining look, he said to Claire,

“Claire, why don’t you come with us?”
“““!!”””

Keith and the other two had an astonished look on their faces.
“Viik, isn’t that a bit…”

“What?”
Viik’s emerald green eyes turned sharp in a flash.

“Nothing. Sorry.”
Keith quickly conceded.

“……?”
“We’re actually on our way back from a trip. We’re from Paft, not Northon, it’s located far south of the Eias Barrier. It’ll be a long way from here, but if it’s hard to live in Northon, then why not come to Paft.”

((The Almighty Paft…!))

Claire thought that there was something strange about these four. Their elegant manners. Their stunning gestures. Finely educated and broad-mindedness.
Anyone would think that they’re definitely belonged to noble class. But if they were noblemen of Northon, it was strange of them to not recognize her.
It all makes sense if they came from the distant land, The Almighty Paft.

Claire visited Paft two months ago to witness Charlotte’s baptism ceremony.
She’s only been to Paft once, it was just a village in the border, nevertheless they’re known for their prosperity. Vast territory with abundant resources.

The culture and civilization were also a dozen years ahead of Northon.
Furthermore, her brother, who visited Paft’s Capital for a royal errand few years ago, said that it was so gorgeous that it was incomparable to Northon’s capital, Tyrard.

She looked at the four people,
Keith and Louie made a puzzled look on Viik who confidently invited her, while Doni was grinning excitedly.

((With their support, I’m sure the journey will be safe… but,
((I had decided to go to the monastery… well, not that I’ve made any preparation for it though,
((Going to a distant country which takes almost a week is bit… but I’m not going back to the Martino, so it doesn’t really matter,
((…All in all, I want to try living in the capital of The Almighty Paft!))

Claire tried to list various drawbacks in her mind so that she could decline the offer, but to no avail.

“I’d like to come. Please let me join you.”
Claire replied, staring straight into Viik’s eyes.

“I see,”
Viik, for some reason, nodded shyly.
“Paft shouldn’t be so bad. The royal capital would be a safe and comfortable place to live in. If you so desire, we’ll look after your job and a place for you to stay, so don’t worry about it.”

“Viik, that’s a bit…”
Keith interjected again.

“Just give it up.”
Louie coldly rebuked Keith. “By the way, it’s midnight, does Claire have a room to stay?”

“…oh, I forgot!”
Claire completely forgot that the reception desk was closed at midnight.

“Then use my room. I’ll sleep in the room with the other three.”
said Louie while smiling.

((I knew it.))

“No. May I join you? In your room.”

After widening her eyes in surprise, Louie smiled,
“Yeah, of course.”

Louie was a woman with neutral looks.
That’s why these well-behave gentlemen didn’t scold her for touching Claire’s shoulder when she was crying.

“Claire is the first person to discover that Louie was a female knight upon first meeting.”
“Yup yup. I didn’t even notice it for about three years.”
Keith and Doni were astonished.

“Claire, just who in the world are you…”
lastly Viik muttered, and with that they called it a day.
